Pierce who?

You all know that I hold a special place in my heart for James Bond movies. I'll manage to find some redeeming qualities with even the worst of them (i.e. A View to a Kill, License to Kill...maybe having "kill" in the title is an ominous sign), no matter how bad they may be.

I was a little concerned when Daniel Craig was announced as the new Bond. Short, blonde, and blue-eyed certainly doesn't fit the man that Ian Fleming described in his novels. Adding to my worries was the choice of Casino Royale as the basis for the newest film, which was a good read, but seemed a bit slow in the action department.

Well, I think this new trailer is putting my mind at ease. Too bad they didn't wait to release this next summer--think of the marketing campaign they could have had if they released it on July 7, 2007. But who can wait that long? Bring on November!

I'm also highly anticipating The Departed, Martin Scorsese's upcoming film set to open in October. I'm not sure what Scorsese's fascination with Leonardo DiCaprio is all about, but I liked his work on The Aviator, and I've liked what I've seen of him in the trailers so far. Let's just hope Jack Nicholson's blue Crocs don't make an appearance in this flick. Also, it's worth a Netflix rental if you haven't seen the original Hong Kong movie this was based on, Infernal Affairs.
