I'd love to fly to the moon with you, but I have to save the universe first...

I saw this on CNN.com and immediately thought someone got really offended by Madonna's ongoing concert tour with her use of the crucifixion and other religious imagery. Alas, it was just a Russian politician who thought it would be cool to send Madonna up as a space tourist.

Oh, and extra points to the first who identifies what movie the title to my posting is from.

I've never given Madonna's performance art a fair shake, but (or because) I have a strong suspicion her shock value is all a marketing ploy.

Want free advertising? Piss off a religious group.

Oh, and my guess was Flash Gordon, too. Man, that flick was cornier than Iowa.

Yeah, considering my wife paid almost as much for a souvenir t-shirt as our tickets cost for Madonna's show in LA last May, I'm convinced it's all about marketing.

Nah, you've got to give Madonna some credit. She puts on a really good show that looks pretty physically demanding. Considering she's in her 40's and still doing the things she does, I was pretty impressed.

And, yes, it was Flash Gordon. Too easy...

Apparently Madonna is a real smart cookie with an I.Q. of around 140. I'd say the majority of that brainpower goes to her business sense.

And yeah, I've heard her shows are pretty cool. I tend to think of her as an entertainer rather than a musician.
