So if you're thinking of Battletech for one minute out of five, and (assuing you're like most men) thoughts of sex take up another minute or two, that doesn't leave much left in a typical day. How do you manage to do a good job at work? ;-)
Cool video. Was that just made up, or an ad for a new video game? I actually haven't thought about Battletech for awhile now, but it sure brought back some fond memories from back in the day. I think a Warhammer still sits on my bookshelf in my old room at the parentals' house. I might still have my old denim jacket with the House Davion patch on the arm in the closet, too.
The Hans Zimmer music they chose for the video got me thinking again about Transformers and its generic score. What is it with movies these days? They used to be great sources of moving melodies that became synonomous with the film they were attached to. Could you imagine Star Wars, Superman, or Indiana Jones without their respective John Williams' musical themes? What would Blade Runner have been like without Vangelis? Heck, even Top Gun had Kenny Loggins. And I always think Ralph Macchio in The Karate Kid when ever Peter Cetera comes on in the hotel elevator or over the grocery store PA system. Despite the fact that the Hans Zimmer score mentioned earlier wasn't actually attached to any groundbreaking movie, it still made me think of submarines and some major conflict even though I couldn't quite put my finger on the fact that it was from Crimson Tide. The music from Transformers makes me think of nothing in particular. Same goes for Spiderman, Batman (Chris Nolan's version), X-Men, etc.
Sad to think that none of these record-breaking, blockbuster movies these days will have similiar tunes to invoke an immediate emotional response in my mind.
