Robot Chicken Star Wars Special Trailer

As a reminder: Set your Tivo's.
I'm a big Robot Chicken fan anyway. Who can't like a show full of punch-in-the-groin jokes using toys, created by Seth Green (yes, THAT Seth Green) and regularly voiced by Scarlett Johanssen, Burt Reynolds, Topher Grace, Mila Kunis, and dozens more.
The main thing I'm excited about the Star Wars episode though? George Lucas doing his own voice over. Who but Seth could get George to do that?

Oh, and some of you may be saying "But Wander, I don't watch this show. Is it really that funny"

Here's my favorite sketch so far

You decide.

I only find about ten percent of Robot Chicken funny.

You're slipping man. Next you'll tell me that you like Mad TV (other than Stewart - THAT'S hilarious.)

Am I the only comedy snob here?

Snob. I'm surprised you didn't use your high-fallutin' vocabulary to spice up your last comment, Firecracker George.

Well, I don't watch that much Robot Chicken, but I do think the Star Wars spoofs are pretty funny. I liked the Charlie Brown Great Pumpkin one, too, that floated around the internet for awhile.

Crackah must be cranky. There is a large percentage of the world that calls Family Guy below-low brow, and you seem to like it pretty well. It's all in the eye of the beholder I suppose.
I would think you'd like Robot Chicken for just the smae reason I do. We used to do that same crazy crap with our toys all the time. You could do a G.I. Joe skit with the action figures that would about make me pee my pants. That was the whole idea behind the show in the first place. Actually getting to do on tv what we ALL did as kids. Seth Green was the featured kid in every MASC toy commercial, so you know he had a better toy collection then me. (actually he has almost the largest single-owned toy and comic collection in the world)
I'm not saying it's the best show on tv. I only like about 80% of what I've seen on there, but when I think it's funny, I think it's ultrafunny.

MadTV sucks.

I know I'm going to exclaim a big "DOH!" when you tell me, but what does MASC stand for?

And, yes, Mad TV sucks. SNL sucks 70% of the time, too, these days, although their alums still manage to go on to do some mighty funny stuff. Case in point, Tina Fey--30 Rock was probably the funniest show on TV last season next to The Office.

Wow! I always wanted to blog about 30 Rock, but figured I'd be told 'I must be slipping'.
I freakin love that show!
And the brilliance of having one Star Wars joke or reference per show, don't get me started. And Alec, born to play that role.
I'm so glad somebody else likes it too.

'We all have days we want to leave everything behind and move to 'The Cleve', Lemon.'
Brilliant!
Well, almost as brilliant as Dr. Spaceman.

Thanks Swany. I needed that.

Yup, I think it was the episode right before the "Cleveland" show that cemented it for me when Lemon's idea of a romantic evening involved playing UNO, sleeping in flannel PJs, turning on the humidifier, and dabbing a little Vaporub under the nose. Why? Because this is my wife, spot-on. Five year old kids don't like playing UNO as much as her.

"By the hammer of Thor!"

By the way, you still didn't answer my MASC question. I'm still sensing that I'll feel like a total idiot when you tell me, though.

Well, it's actually M.A.S.K.- Mobile Armored Strike Kommand
But even as a kid I hated spelling kommand with a k. It seems so Nazi-ish. So, I call them MASC. Seems more high tech.
A toy line with so much potential, but the advent of plastic really hurt thier coolness. You know, like around that date line when Transformers were no longer metal.

I call it AP: After Plastic

You wouldn't believe what people pay for the original metal Megatron now... and mine is long gone.

Swany said...

Oh, M.A.S.K. Well, I don't feel that stupid now when you change a vital letter like that.

Do they still sell Megatron? I'd think he'd be a neon pink looking thing with gaudy flashing lights so as not to be confused with a real gun, which would be weird since the reason he's supposed to transform is to look real and blend into the environment.

Wander said...

Megatron is a tank now, and has been for a few years. I believe that's what he is in the film as well.
I guess the whole "I'm a to scale Walther PPK *insert cool transforming sound* now I'm a 20 foot tall robot" was too much suspensioin of disbelief for todays kids.
