Best. Commercial. Ever.

Remember my birthday party in 1988, playing lazer tag in the church parking lot... man that was cool!

I'd say that Lazer Tag looks rather primitive now, except that no one ever released anything equivalent or better since. There's paint ball, but you can put an eye out with that stuff, not to mention get a pretty nasty bruise. I guess it's not all that PC in this day and age, too.

I remember us fantasizing about lazertag tournaments ala that commercial, and the closest we got was the church parking lot and the roof of the elementary school.

Man, it's always a harsh let-down when your childhood fantasies don't stand up to reality. Wander, remember the Gravitron at the fair? We envisioned a zero-g moonwalk type of thing, and it wound up being a centrifuge that pinned you to a wall and almost made me throw up.

I digress. You know what that commercial lacked? Pat Benatar. I mean, it had the poofy bangs and face paint on the cheekbones (although not in radical neon colors). A little drama rock from Pat Benatar was all it lacked.

I thought the rooftop arena was great. I will never forget when everyone started to bail over the side, and it was my first time up there. The cops came and everyone started hopping off the 20 foot roof like it was nothing. Not wanting to get caught I too took a true leap of faith and landed halfway down on that chain link fence that covered the heating and cooling equipment. Crazy!

And Swany, maybe it where I live but they just opened up a Lasertag arena here in my town. I have also seen it on the tv show How I Met Your Mother. Plus I think there have been some advancements to the equipment.
