At least we're not in the middle

Wow. Who knew so many Americans weren't accepting of the theory of evolution? Then again, there are people in the United States that don't know what country the Great Wall of China is in. Hint: It's in China.

Some of that confusion may come from folks who distort the fact that Darwin has some holes in his theory. It looks like he didn't get it right from the start, but it was a collosal first step. People use this to say, "See? He got it wrong! We must be right!" When in fact, it isn't a matter of one is not completely right, the only one other possibility is true. Am I making any sense?

If Darwin's theory isn't spot on (ignoring all additions made by later scholars) then Creationism must be true. God snapped his fingers and the universe appeared. Could the multiple accounts of creation in Genesis be metaphoric? Heck no! That interferes with my desire to have the world all figured out. Don't go making things as complicated as they really are - that frightens me.

Jesus spoke in parables all the time. Why is it so hard to imagine that some bibical stories may also be parable (parabolic?) Much more importantly in my opinion, don't spend so much energy fighting over the literalness of a story that you miss the meaning. It's like Joseph Campbell said, "Too many people read the prose of the bible and not the poetry."
