Does this post signify an official Wild Willie endorsement?

It is not an endorsement ... yet. I would say that I have liked Obama long before he was popular in this contest. My wife would say I have been swept up into the Obama media hype. I would say that, while all of this years candidates preach change (a change I believe is predominantly miniscule in scope), Obama seems to be strong hope for true change becuase he hasn't been entrenched in Washington politics for too long. Some would cite this as a weakness. I would not.
The other side of the coin has McCain's head on it. I don't think presents much change but I do think it presents us with solid leadership.
An official endorsement is pretty much going to come down to an in depth study of their platforms and what they really believe.
Hooray Obama! I'm going to vote Obama, because the celebrities like him. I want to be a celebrity too, so I'm an Obama supporter!
All kidding aside, that was well done, and I'd decided on Obama a few months ago. I do have to say though that John McCain is the only republican candidate that I've ever considered voting for. If he had run against Kerry, it would have been a tough call. Heck, if he runs against Hillary Clinton, I'll have a conundrum on my hands.
It looks like that tangle will be avoided, however, as Obama just had his ninth straight victory over Clinton.
I'm actually surprised that McCain is doing so well. He's usually not conservative enough for his party, and his anti-torture stance doesn't jive with how Bush and company have run their war on terror.
The thing I like about Obama is that he truly does seem to inspire people. Whether or not that's just a product of his fancy speeches or if he's truly got some substantive ideas remains to be seen, but can anyone remember the last time people were actually EXCITED about voting for someone?
As Firecracker George joked about, some of this could be just impressionable people jumping on the latest bandwagon, but you know, a lot of celebrities endorsed John Kerry in the last election, and I don't recall many people all that enthusiastic about him--they were more excited about the prospect of getting Bush out of office. I think the country is in vital need of a leader we actually respect and want to listen to.
Who I'll actually vote for come November remains to be determined. I'm hoping the debates between Obama and McCain (assuming Hillary doesn't pull of a "Comeback Kid" moment like her husband) will help me actually figure out what each of the candidates stand for.
