I'm betting you can't sit perfectly still and listen to this...

This music video of Le Tigre's "Deceptacon" looks and sounds like some throwback to the days of Revenge of the Nerds or all those teenage angst John Hughes movies:

Although the seventies made a comeback in fashion, music, and oil crisis's, and seemed to hang around longer than the original decade, many have tried to revive the eighties in a similar fashion. All attempts have failed. Even Wank Master Scratch's prediction nearly fifteen years ago that the red leather jacket ala' Michael Jackson would make a comeback has proven to not be the case. The closest we get is TV and toy remakes (Transformers, Dukes of Hazard, etc.) But it appears no one really wants the eighties back in the same capacity as the seventies.

Personally, I'd prefer parachute pants over bell bottoms, but it was not to be.

But, now this - an attempt to glom on to the New Wave, which is of course now a misnomer. This too will fail, I predict. Not because this old music isn't worth revisiting, but because it's worth revisiting. During it's first run it was underground, drowned out by the cacophony of eighties pop. Those who enjoyed the first time don't need a new facsimile. To those (like me) who were too young to dig for music beyond the radio, it almost is new music.
